Essay #5 The impact of music

The music is the way of expressing lifestyle. It has a great impact on everyday life of people. People listen to music through radio, TV and stereos. It becomes the inseparable part of life. Each person has his/her individual perception of music. What is music? It is the sound that is delightful to listen to. The human’s life is enclosed by music. Though, its great impact is not appreciated completely. This impact is that music provides both intellectual development and physical relaxation.

The definition that Wikipedia gives to music is an art form consisting of sound and silence expressed through time”.  In fact, music is an art created by people and it has numerous of benefits. Modern research came up with facts that “music creates changes in metabolism, circulation, blood volume, pulse, blood pressure, and our moods”. It is indescribably pleasant, for instance, to listen to Spanish guitar or piano after a long nerve-racking day. Music takes away emotional experience and tiredness that accumulated by the whole day.

Doris Soibelman, author of Therapeutic and Industrial Uses of Music, declares that “nearly every organ in the body responds to music”. It is impossible to avoid shaking of body by the time when incendiary music sounds. It is pleasant to listen to music in a car and particularly, on the place of work. The experiments that had been taken at Midwestern University showed that “in the everyday working world, scientifically planned background music has been found to increase production and cut down on boredom, fatigue, and tension”. Presently, I am working in the dining hall and it is not the most pleasant place to work. The last hours of working day on service line, as if intentionally, passes so slowly that I think it would never ever finish. In contrast, the time of work on ice cream station is simply flies away. The difference between them is that an ice-cream station has access to music and I enjoy being there. Scientists came to conclusion, that music improves the person’s intelligence too. Georgia Governor Zell Miller’s had proposed to “provide the parents of every Georgia newborn with a classical music recording in order to boost the infant’s intelligence later in life.” For example, I learn more effectively new materials of any classes if I am studying them while listening to my favorite songs. Additionally, researchers were confronted with a fact that “children with music training had significantly better verbal memory than those without such training, and the longer the training, the better the verbal memory”.Consequently, music is the not only the way humans express their interests and lives but as well as a positive tool that could be used in person’s development.  People benefit from it every day by improving health and mental abilities. Music accompanies life from the early morning till late night. People listen to it in their cars, work places, at home and on the streets. People get pleasure from music, no matter it would be Rock, Classical music, Rap or Jazz. Music helps to live colorfully and excitingly.  It makes the life happier.  Works citedMENC—The National Association for Music Education, “Why Music Education?” The
